Firefly Internship Program
We're officially excited to launch our internship program at Firefly! We believe an excellent internship program is the bedrock of any good children's theatre company.
Our summer camp interns aren’t just helpers — they’re future educators, artists, and leaders in training. The Firefly Internship Program is a hands-on, educational experience designed for 6th-grade - high school seniors who love theatre, enjoy working with kids, and want to grow their leadership and teaching skills in a performing arts environment.
Interns are an essential part of what makes Firefly’s camps so magical. They work side-by-side with our directors to guide campers, create art, and bring our shows to life — all while developing professional skills they’ll carry far beyond the stage.
What Firefly Interns Do
Each day of camp, interns take on meaningful leadership roles such as:
-
Assisting with choreography, music, or acting instruction
-
Leading games, warm-ups, and creative activities
-
Supporting small groups of campers with patience and enthusiasm
-
Helping with costumes, props, and backstage organization
-
Modeling professionalism, teamwork, and positivity
-
Performing in group numbers alongside campers when needed
-
Encouraging every child to shine — and helping make the magic happen!
Intern Training
Before camp begins, interns participate in an all-day training that covers:
-
Firefly’s camp schedule and expectations
-
Safety, communication, and camper management
-
Strategies for teaching and leading young performers
-
Review of show material and creative assignments (music, choreography, or blocking)
This training ensures that interns step into camp prepared to teach, lead, and inspire — not just assist. Interns are expected to learn all the material so they can confidently help anywhere they’re needed.
Time Commitment
Training: Monday, June 29th, 2026: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Lunch Provided)
Camp Hours: 8:30 AM – 2:30 P.M., Monday through Friday
Performances: Fridays at 5:00 PM (interns stay through clean-up)
Interns must commit to all assigned camp days. Consistency helps campers feel supported and ensures the best possible experience for everyone.
What You’ll Gain
Being a Firefly Intern is a chance to:
-
Develop leadership and communication skills
-
Learn the art of teaching through theatre
-
Gain experience in production and classroom management
-
Receive service-learning or volunteer hours
-
Build a resume for future college, theatre, or education opportunities
-

Compensation
Our internship program is an educational experience designed to help students grow as artists and leaders. In recognition of their time and commitment, all Firefly Interns will receive free tuition to attend the Older Kids Summer Camp (July 20–31) if they wish to participate as campers as well. This allows interns to both teach and learn — gaining valuable leadership experience while continuing their own artistic training.
